Potty Training

Emelia has had a number of false starts and limited interest in potty training until recently. Lately, she has been doing well at night and during naps by waking up with a dry diaper and with a willingness to use the potty immediately. That coupled with new Dora and Disney theme undies for Christmas has renewed her interest.
Today was her first day at daycare without a diaper and she did great. She made it the entire day without a diaper and without having any accidents. Daycare is helping remind her to use the potty, which is the biggest obstacle. Training a toddler to do much of anything is a challenge. Reminding a toddler to use the potty instead of playing is tough, but necessary.
By the evening time it was obvious that she was tired of the effort needed to keep up with using the potty and making sure she didn’t wet herself was taking its toll. We switched to pull ups and she was happy again. Tomorrow we’ll give her undies for daycare again. If she can keep it up we’ll be on our way to eliminating having to change at least one kid’s diaper. Not to mention saving a few bucks by not having to buy cases of diapers for two.
