Still Surviving
Just a little recap for the family. The girls are both doing well. Emelia has been doing well in class. We plan to sign her up for the next class, which means more swimming practice during the week and class on weekends. She’s doing well enough where she’s almost ready to move up to the next class, but as I said almost. The instructor suggests one more time in the class she’s in and then she’ll have no trouble to move up. It’s encouraging to see all of the other kids that are only about five doing so well in the more advanced classes.
Caitlin is turning out to be a little fireball. She’s still not wound tight as Emelia, but she has become more vocal. She’s not afraid to make it known when she is not happy with something that you do or or something you give her. She’s got the little kid curiosity thing going on too. Trying to dress her is challenging as she tries to grab or touch anything and everything while you try to wrestle her into some closed.
Caitlin now has two teeth out and two more on the way. All of them are on the bottom. Nothing on the top just yet. She’ also doing well with working up to walking. She’ll walk if you hold her hands and she’ll even pull herself up using anything she can find. It’s the scary stage of learning to walk where she’s likely to fall down and bang her chin or face.
We flip flopped a little on the sleeping in the crib, but as of this week she’s back in the crib. Unlike last time we tried to transition her, this time (three nights in a row) she’s gone without much of a fight. A little whining and moving around and she’s done for the night. We check on her so that we can cover her up when she throws the covers off, but other than that she’s good for the entire night. If she keeps this up in a few weeks I will be able to safely say that she’s transitioned. Sue and I are sleeping well too. Having that extra bit of bed back and not having to deal with baby hands scratching and smacking me in the night makes for a good night of sleep. Speaking of that, I’m off to bed.
Updated: It seems I spoke too soon. Last night Caitlin woke up around 3:20 and fought going back to sleep for a while. That’s the worst we had so far and it was much less severe than anything Emelia ever gave us. I just hope it’s the worst that we’ll ever see out of Caitlin.
