Caitlin

It’s simply amazing to watch Caitlin grow up. We’ve seen James and Emelia grow and mature over the years, but watching Caitlin is something altogether different. Emelia had James to watch and keep up with, but he’s only around so much. Caitlin has Emelia with her almost non-stop and it has an interesting impact on her development.

She’s close to six months old and she’s very interactive with Emelia. They lie in bed or the crib together and Caitlin’s eyes are glued to Emelia watching and analyzing her every move. Nobody can make Caitlin smile and giggle more than Emelia. It really is something to see. Even in the car on the way to daycare Emelia talks with Caitlin and she responds in her own way. They even go as far as to “growl” playfully at each other. Emelia does it to Caitlin and then she does it right back to Emelia. The two of them entertain each other.

Tonight we had Amy and James over for a haircut and a visit. Shortly before they left for home Sue was running around the house with the kids to both entertain and drain them of energy. She happened to have Caitlin in her arms and she got right into the fun. Sue chased the kids around the house with Caitlin in her arms. When they met up everybody would make noise. Caitlin was smiles ear to ear and making happy noises. The kids were screaming with joy. This went on for quite some time. I’m amazed that Caitlin had so much fun with the big kids. At the rate that she is going Caitlin is likely to do things a lot earlier than Emelia. Not that she is better or a faster learner, but she has somebody to give her a reason to get up and get going faster. She has to keep up with Emelia. I think she’ll do just fine.
