More Hail Damage

Thursday another very nasty storm blew in through the neighborhood and did damage. Fortunately, for us it seems that we did not suffer any permanent damage to our cars or house. At least not as far as I can tell right now. The new car was inside, but the truck is full of compost so it was out side along with the Civic (anybody want a used Civic?).
My buddy at work didn’t fair quite as well. He was about 3/4 of a mile south east of our house and his new (it is a 2006, but new to him) got damaged. I counted fourteen dents spread across the hood and roof; a few of which were quite ugly. He is talking with the insurance company to see what they can do The hail where he was, which was not far away by any means, was all golf ball size, which is ironic since he was at a golf course at the time. According to his insurance company 27 people already submitted claims to his agent and that was only at 1pm Friday. The hail in our neighborhood was about 3/4 of an inch with a few that reached 1 inch (about the size of a golf ball).
Other areas of our town, east of us, and in the county just north west of us recorded 1-1/2 – 1-3/4 size hail. It seems we lucked out during this storm. I hope we don’t see another one of these any time soon. It was like a very quick beating by hurricane force rain, wind and hail. Seriously, it was the worst storm I’ve seen in this area. I would have taken video of it, but I would have been soaked and pelted with hail even on the porch. Not 30 minutes later I was walking around the house with Caitlin and the skies were clear and blue. It was beautiful.
