Still a Girl

On Wednesday I accompanied Sue to her third and final ultrasound. It looks like number two is still going to be a girl. During the previous ultrasound months ago the technician said that she was 100% sure the baby was a girl, but I wasn’t completely convinced. She showed us three parallel, white lines on the screen and said that was the sign that it was a girl. This time around I saw a very clear silhouette of the baby’s bottom. No question this is a girl.
Based on her measurements she already weighs about six pounds and six ounces. With four weeks to go/grow she’s likely to rival Emelia in weight by the time she decides to make her way out. Knowing how big the baby is going to be and the limitations on what size baby Sue can give birth to we are planning on a caesarean section around the 39th week. If the baby decides to come out early that’s fine, otherwise it’ll be a planned c-section. It also looks like we’ll be traveling to a different hospital too.
Now we wait. Sue and I are all ready. The car seat is in the car, the crib is setup and the baby bottling stuff is back in the kitchen. We’re stocked up with every size diaper we’ll need. Newborn, size 1 through 5 (the 4 and 5 are for Emelia) and about 5 cases of wipes. There’s not much more we can do now, but wait for the big day.
On a different note we are closing on our house (again) next week. We’re in the home stretch in refinancing the house. Unlike most people that refinance we are not trying to lower our monthly payment and we’re not trying to get money (for whatever reason). After we refinance we’ll knock off about seven whole years off the term of the mortgage without increasing the size of our payment. Not bad. We’ll own the place before Emelia graduates high school (or much sooner with extra payments).
I give Sue credit for just about everything to do with the refinance. She kept an eye on the rates and jumped when the rate dipped sufficiently below 5% to make it worthwhile. I’ve been relegated to signing paperwork and doing the occasional faxing and transporting of said paperwork. I also took an hour off from work to be home for the appraiser last Tuesday. Overall the whole experience was far simpler and went much quicker than I ever thought possible.

no rush, but we can’t wait to see her.
on another note, good job with the refi. maybe i’ll start poking around for rates lower than what wew have too. right now our plan is to pay off in 23 years instead of 30, but if i can lower that further i would love it. hmm….
