Ice Store in Pictures

I brought the camera outside with me on the morning of the ice storm, but forgot to take pictures of all the damage. Here is what I did capture.
This tree sits in the distant corner of our yard. It has had a tough life and is already looking bad. As you can see it has lost more of its limbs. The ones on the ground came from the top of the tree. Thankfully, the branches that hit the fence were small and did not do any damage. I did my best to move these limbs, but two of them are too heavy for me to move alone and in one piece. When the weather gets better I’ll hack them into two pieces before moving them.
These pines took a hit too, but mostly small branches. I already moved the evidence out to the roadside.
It’s tough to tell from a distance just how much ice is on everything. Here is Emelia’s little Japanese maple tree.
When you zoom in you can really see the ice. It’s not difficult to imagine how heavy the pine branches get when all of the wood and long needles are covered in such a think layer of ice.
Although the following picture is blurry you can see that the bushes and net lights were not spared.
The white birch trees in our area are all bending down like this one.
The rhodies just look pitiful.
There is a lot of water attached to these trees. I can only imagine how heavy they are.
(Another post brought to you by sheer boredom and a weakening laptop battery.)
