Still Out

We’re working on our third day without electricity. Unfortunately, it seems that the cause of our particular outage is a faulty electrical device, which is resulting in a small power outage in only our neighborhood. Therefore, only about two dozen houses are without power. Seeing as there are still thousands of others without power the bigger areas get priority. According to our utility it may be Tuesday night or even Wednesday before they can have us back only.
Thankfully, mom and dad were able to lend us their big generator. They even delivered and installed it personally. I now have enough power to run our heat and some other electrical necessities like the coffee maker, TV and cable modem. I’ve also allowed my neighbor (the one who was gracious enough to snow blow our driveway a number of times two years ago when Sue was pregnant with Emelia) to run a cord from the generator to his house. He’s now able to run his refrigerator, a light and a TV. He’s relying on his gas stove to heat a portion of his house.
Without the anxiety of potentially frozen pipes I’m still stuck with worry over when the power is going to be back on and paranoia that somebody is going to grab the generator and try to steal it. Despite its immense weight (which means taking it an running is not really an option for any potential thieves) I’ve done my best to corral it by blocking the entire area with my truck. You’d have to cut down all of my hearty holly bushes or move my truck to get to the generator. That doesn’t stop me from worrying and checking on it every 10 minutes or so.
With that I’m going back to waiting for the lights to come back on.

It’s been a long couple of days for you. Try not to worry about the generator to much. Your neighbors will help keep and eye on it. Just sit and watch some sci fi while you got the chance and feel comfort in the fact you are warm and safe. You could in fact get some work done on the house heh heh. Just kidding.

This weekend was a flop with regards to getting work done. I had plans to work on this and that, but absolutely nothing got done. Oh well.
