On the Ride In

Me: <sniff, it smells like poop in the car for some reason>
Me: “Emelia, did you poopie?”
Emelia: “Yeah.”
Me: “OK. We’ll have to change you when we get to daycare.”
It’s scare how mature an 18 month old girl can be. She’s really too smart for her own good. I’m starting to think that potty training is not far off. Some of the girls in her room are already using the potty and they are only 2 years old.
On another note Emelia has moved over to the big girls room (toddlers’ room). This was her first week and she is adjusting well, but is a bit clingy in the morning. I think that has more to do with coming back from vacation than moving to the new room. She’s no stranger to the toddlers’ room; she spent a lot of time there before vacation and did very well there.

I had the best experience last week when we babysat for our niece and nephew. Kyra looks at me and tells me that she needs to go potty (as she crosses her legs and bends over a bit funny). I ask her if she can walk up the stairs or if she’d like me to carry her (already knowing the answer as this looked like a “rush order”). She says “carry me” so I do. She does her whole routine for #2, which is an experience in itself, then stands up and sticks her bum out towards me and says “ok now wipe me”. I was like “you don’t even wipe your own butt yet?!?” and she very nicely said “nope”. I thought that “potty trained” included wiping. Boy was I educated.

How old is she? I’m looking forward to the day we can ditch the diapers, but no looking forward to continuing with the butt wiping routine. James is potty trained, but still needs help wiping.
You can always let the kid do it herself, but there is a tradeoff. You’ll end up doing more laundry and having to clean the bathroom after each use of the potty.

I forgot to mention that now that Emelia is in the toddlers room, where she’ll be until she’s almost three, that they have both a changing table and a potty. I believe a good number of the girls are potty trained before they leave that room and move over with the threes. The boys take a bit longer and are usually potty trained after three years old. A bonus for us!

she turned three in april, although she’s been pt’d since she was just over two. she even told her mom that she wanted to start using the potty, no need for her mom to introduce it so that was pretty cool.
yeah, fudge striped skivvies are no fun ;(

I think that Emelia will train early and quickly as well.
