Family Reunion

On Sunday we attended a family reunion with dad’s side of the family. It was the first one I’ve been to in many years and we all had a great time. Grandma and grandpa got plenty of Meimei time and, Sue and I got a few hours without having to chase the little one around. The old folks got to take one that job for a while.

The reunion was at Look Park. According to mom and dad we used to have family reunions there in the past and they brought me there as a kid. I can’t say that I remember, but it was an amazingly nice park. I wish we had something like it near us.

The pavilion that was rented was right next to the kid playground and the water-spray park. That put us right in the middle of things, but it was quite private despite the amount of people around.

We weren’t there a minute before Emelia went off with Angie. I was shocked that she took so quickly to Angie, but sure enough they left us in seconds. They went to play with Angie’s son Aiden and Kim’s son Devon.

By the time we got there (around 11:20) Mike had already started the grill and was busy cleaning in preparation for charring some mammal flesh.

Not long after grandma and Meimei hit the swings. Not the greatest pic since the flash shot off and Emelia’s expression was off, but it was the best of the bunch I took.

Next stop was the toddler’s playground. It was just the right size. Not too big and scary and not too small to be boring.

Time for a break and some delicious ziti that somebody brought. Pasta always goes over well with Emelia. Burgers and hot doggies just don’t do it for her. Ziti always does.

The last big attraction for the day was the water-spray park. We weren’t prepared with a bathing suit for the little, but that made little difference to her. She chickened out when the big sprayers started and tried to run away crying, but the little ones were not bad. The water was cold, but felt great in the hot sun.

Aunt Jane going in for a goodbye kiss, but Emelia was took quick. She yanked her head away just after this. Not to be deterred Jane got Emelia to turn again and planted one right on her lips.

Goodbyes

looks like it was a great day.

you seriously don’t remember going to Look Park as kids? the family reunions were crazy. some of the uncles/cousins payed poker, and us kids journeyed on the rocks and muddled in a stream.

I recall that I attended a reunion before and that we were at a pavilion, but I don’t remember anything else. I certainly did not know the name of the place we were at. Oh well. I guess all those years growing away from MA has cleansed my brain.
