SSDD

It’s been pretty much “same old, same old” around here. Emelia was sick a couple weeks ago. She made life miserable for Sue since the two of them were away while I stayed home. We brought her into see the doctor on the following Monday only to find out that her little body was already taking care of the ear infection she had. That was good news and a relief to know that something was actually wrong with her and that wasn’t just the new “normal” mood for her.

The week following that weekend was routine for us. I’ve been constantly busy with stuff around the house. Plenty of chores to go around and plenty of things to work on in and around the house that has kept me very busy. In between I spend time with the wife and Emelia. Makes for a full week.

Last weekend was typical for us. Do stuff around the house and do our best to keep up with Emelia. Then on Wednesday I get word that Coxsackie Virus is going around the room that Emelia is in. They gave us a list of symptoms to look for: fever, lack of appetite, and blisters on the hands, feet and in the mouth. Thursday morning Emelia has a fever, no appetite and ended up vomiting. Thankfully, she didn’t get any sores.

I stayed home with her and she was in good spirits despite being sick. Thursday night she was looking good. Friday we got up and got ready to leave only to have Emelia get sick in the garage. I took off my work clothes from Thursday and proceeded to call in.

Friday was the worst. She slept great Thursday night and woke up at her normal time of 5:30am. She got sick around 7:15am and was fast asleep in my arms by 7:30am. She stayed asleep for the most part until 11:30am. She woke up repeatedly to whine and change position. For the rest of the day she was better, but not great. She was very attached to me, which made my day difficult and uncomfortable. Luckily I was able to take her out for a nice long walk. She fell asleep and I walked around the neighborhood for nearly 2 hours. I actually did the same thing on Thursday too.

Friday night I was ready to pull out my hair. Saturday and Sunday she has been great. I got some time to clean up the mower (for the first time this year) and sharpen the blades. I got to give the lawn a nice mow and I got some time to myself to relax. Keeping care of a sick kid is tiring both physically and mentally.

This weekend was again routine, although, I did much less work on the house. I didn’t do anything beyond normal chores and rearranging some furniture. Emelia has fully recovered too. So, Monday it is back to the grind. Comfortable and blissful work and Emelia will be somebody else’s problem until I pick her up in the afternoon. :D
