A Wonderful Weekend

I can’t speak for Sue and Emelia, but I had a wonderful weekend. It was a very new type of weekend where we spend out time resting and doing only minimal traveling. I think I could get used to this.

We started off Friday with a visit from Amy and James. The girls were glued to the TV watching a Chinese kungfu movie while the kids raised hell and I enjoyed the evening in a light daze. Saturday we got an early start to drive out to Mass to see the family for a long awaited Christmas present opening and visiting.

Emelia was on great behavior and even warmed up quite a bit to everybody even though most of the faces were new or at least not too familiar. We got a chance to catch up on what everybody is doing and we got to share what has been going on with us. By the afternoon Emelia was being fussy and whiny. Right before we left for home I swabbed her gums with Orajel and she was an energetic angel yet again.

We made it home in time to break out the Season 10 Stargate SG-1 DVDs and get a few episodes into us to at least pacify our appetite for sci-fi. Sunday morning we proceeded to pick up the house, open up some of Emelia’s new toys and to put away some of her old ones (to be brought out again at a later date) so that we don’t get overwhelmed with them. A couple of episodes of SG-1 and a quick lunch. I even got a chance to crack open the copy of The Puzzle Palace that Jessie got me.

Sunday night we spent with Mike and Amy catching up and just hanging out. Tacos were on the menu and the kids were great. We even got a chance to see the latest Die Hard movie, which like all the previous ones is very far fetched but entertaining nontheless.

Even waking up to 2-3 inches of white, fluffy snow and having to go to the dentist at 8am to get a cavity filled hasn’t really phased me. Next week is James’ birthday so more traveling is on the agenda, but at least we get a break now and again. It will be a busy couple months though. Lots of b’days.

@grumpy: Don’t feel too bad. Emelia is sick now too. She vomited all over Sue and the floor tonight. Now, she’s whining like grandpa.

aww that sucks.. it seems like everybody is getting sick lately. mom and yoda both have colds too. my boss was sick, but i never came down with anything. doesn’t mean i couldn’t have been carrying something though. 8(

I’ll count myself and Sue lucky since we’ve been lucky enough not to have become sick. Too bad it seems to have spread through the family.

Emelia on the other hand had an iffy night, but a decent day. Once home from daycare she went downhill again. A mild fever, spit-up/light vomiting followed by plenty of whining and being clingy to mom. Tylenol and Orajel (teething stuff) to the rescue. Hopefully, she’ll be good for the night and will be okay at daycare tomorrow. My fingers are crossed.
