Moving Up in the World

Huafei is now officially part of the “threes”. It’s a little bit before he actually turns three years old, but he has officially been moved out of the toddler section and into the section for the “threes” along with another boy who has been in the same room as James since they were both infants.

I’m not sure of the details of what changes as a result of his move, but at the very least he will probably be doing more hands on activities. Instead of playing around with toys all day he’ll probably be involved with craft like projects that most parents are used to seeing their kids make. Papers with hand painted pictures. Things made of construction paper and pipe cleaners. I’m looking forward to the day I get to see James’ first piece of macaroni art. I remember mine. It was painted with gold spray paint.

Our little one will eventually be moving out of infant 1 and into infant 2. We don’t know the exact date, but she is second in line to make the move and will probably be there by January. The kids move over at or before they turn 12 months. Emelia is a big girl (she wears 18 month size clothes now), but developmentally she’s right on target. So, she looks big compared to others her age, but she’s at the same stage in life.

Speaking of size when I brought her to the pediatrician last week to get her cough checked out they weighed her. She’s now 22 pounds on the nose. Seeing as she was 21.6 pounds at 6 months we can see that her growth weight wise has slowed. However, she is getting taller. Her body seems to be rearranging itself, but growing at a slower rate. Hopefully, this means she’ll stay in the same clothes for longer and not out grow her size 3 diapers. I remember her going from Newborn -> 1 -> 2 -> 2-3 -> very rapidly.

Here is where she is now:
