Sleep and Stuff

Yesterday was Emelia’s last day of taking medicine for her pink eye. It worked so well that her symptoms were gone the first day, but to keep it away we had to put the drops in for seven days straight. After the first few days of struggle and crying she came to accept that we were going to put drops in her eye whether she liked it or not. We still need to hold her down and open her eyes with our fingers, but she stopped crying. We made a big deal of it and now she’s okay with it once we are done. Now if it wasn’t such a fight to get her eyes open we’d be set.

Yesterday Sue took Meimei to the store to get pictures taken. They left in the early evening so Emelia didn’t get her nap. So, when they got back around 8:45 the little one was asleep. We did our bes to keep her asleep, but she woke up around midnight happy as could be. Thankfully we were able to get her to sleep again, but not without a price. I can’t speak for Sue, but last night made for a poor night of sleep. The usual sleepy baby was a bit more active last night and I got the full brunt of it.

Kicks, scratches and poking toes attacked my back all night (like most nights). I think it has a little to do with our weight difference. I outweigh the baby by a good 200 pounds so I sink in a little more than her so Emelia rolls over towards me all night. She can’t help it. Then when she dreams or wakes up her activities get to visit my back. Today is going to be a long day. Thankfully I went with stronger coffee today.

Today we get to go to daycare for their annual Halloween parade. The daycare dresses up all the babies in their costumes and have them parade outside showing off to all the parents. The infants go out as long as the weather holds and it looks okay for today. Sue and I will be there with camera in hand to take some pics. Afterwards we make our way inside for snacks and mingling. Poor Emelia can only eat some of the snacks (no dairy yet), but she’ll get to have some crackers or cookies. It should be fun. I’ve been there for Thanksgiving, but never Halloween. This will be James’ third year.

Tonight is the big night for candy and showing off the baby. I plan to bring her out to see the neighbors and get a little candy for daddy (yum!). Then it’ll be back to the house for handing out goodies to all the ghouls and ghosts.
