Guess who can chew now

Sunday morning we discovered that Emelia now has her first, very sharp tooth. We knew it was coming with her fussy episodes, which came on for no apparent reason, but were stopped with a small application of Baby Orajel. Sure enough her fussy mood on Sunday was due to her first bottom tooth from punching through the gums. Orajel to the rescue and Meimei was a happy (happier at least) girl again.
It’s a sharp one too. It should come in handy since she’s really starting to eat more real food. Her favorite, just like James is tofu, but she also eats rice (white and brown), small pieces of veggies, breads, crackers, Cheerios, Kix, and pretty much anything that isn’t too salty or sweet. She’s always eager to eat whatever you have to share and will make a big fuss if you don’t give her any or stop for some reason.
At daycare she still eats jar foods, but can kill 3/4 of a stage 2 jar of veggies in one sitting, which is much more than what she would eat before. Green veggies are her favorite with orange veggies coming in second and fruits at a very, distant third. She despises bananas. Put some in her mouth and she’ll gag trying to get it out. Can’t stand them.
She drinks formula as well as breast milk. However, she loves water and will drink it from a bottle (Poland spring bottle) or from a cup. She’ll also drink cranberry and apple juices from a glass. As she gets better with chewing and swallowing real food we may have daycare start feeding her their food instead of jar foods. She’s making good progress so I don’t think it is too far away.

What is scarier than teeth is her ability to crawl and pull herself up into the standing position. She’s very proud when she does it too. More often than not she can only get up part way, but I’ve seen her get all the way up, but come down quickly after.
I even had to move the crib mattress to its lowest level. She’s so tall that when she stands in there that she can easily flip out. Not any more.

so she finally figured out how to make the whole body move forward instead of just rolling over. that’s awesome. knew it wouldn’t take her long.

She learns quickly. Now that she can move around and pull herself up and tries to crawl over me when I’m on the floor. It’s amazing seeing as she was pretty stationary not that long ago. Now, she crawls up and over me and crawls around the first floor of the house. Turn your head for a second and she’s nearly in the bathroom. Time to baby proof.
