Emelia

Emelia has been doing great lately. Her appetite has increased a little bit and she feels like she weighs about 20 pounds. We won’t know for sure until her 6 month visit, which is coming soon; just over a week away. She’s learned a few new tricks, both good and bad.

Here is Sue playing her signature sheet game with Emelia. Sue used to do this with James and he loved it. Emelia likes it just as much.

Observant as ever Emelia made sure that she got to soak up all the activity that was going on at the Punkintown fair. I did my best to get her attention or at least get within her eye sight, but she avoided me like the plague. She only had eyes for everything else that was going on.

She also enjoys spending some time in her jumperoo, although, she’s out of it quicker that we would like. I was hoping that her jumperoo might buy us a few minutes of freedom once in a while, but she doesn’t stay in it long enough to get even a little rest.

Take note at how well she makes the toy move in this one. I was shocked to see how much hand control she has for only 5 months old.

Lastly, Emelia’s biggest and most impressive trick so far: crawling. She’s already figured out how to move herself a bit. This video does not do her justice. After watching her crawl around the bed I figured it was something I should record. Once the camera came out she became playful, but not too eager to crawl. You get to at least see her move a little bit here. It surprised me the first time that night that I saw her crawl, but she’s begun to do it more each day.

And last, but not least is a quick video of Emelia playing Banger. It’s a very simple game that involves hitting the keys on the keyboard. Each key hit increments a number, changes the screen color and plays a random silly sound. She loves it! It’s and old school app (1997), but still works. A coworker shared this with me. I can’t wait to show James; we’re sure he’ll like to play it too.

the first one in the jumper is so funny to watch her feet. it’s like she’s fast-dancing. then the second one she has that smile of pure happiness that is so beautiful. I love it.

she’s just about got that body crawling exercise down too. she’ll be all over the place before you know it.

and the computer one… are you turning her into a techie already?

The funny thing about the jumperoo is that her feet pick up a lot of the loose fibers on the carpet. It’s a wool pile one so it sheds. Her feet are sticky/moist so every movement she makes picks up a little more fuzz. By the end there is a bunch of fuzzy balls under the toy. Word to the wise: Don’t buy a wool pile rug unless you enjoy vacuuming often.

She’s learning how to move quickly. The morning after that “crawling” video was taken she was crawling even more and faster. That time happened to be in her crib.

Her latest thing (today) is to roll to the place she wants to go. It’s funny to watch, but scary too. One second and she silently rolls away. The older they get the more diligent you have to be.

I’d prefer that she become computer literate, but not a techie. It may sound a bit trite, but I’d love to see her become a doctor or some other professional. A techie is become more of a service level job. Back when I started to go to school it was cool to be in IT, now it’s just a job. Biology, chemistry, nano-technology are nice fields, but who knows what is going to be “hot” in 20 years.

here we go again, lost all of my first comments, won’t be as much fun 2nd time around but I put in my name and e-mail address this time….

still giggling, so Emelia likes thingies on her head too!!! The first time you get under the sheets with the camera Emelia puts her arms out and it’s just so cute, then she latches onto them, nice and tight….

She’s got the roll push with foot and move down great, look at now, you’ll have to keep your eyes on her at all times now….

I started you on the computer at around age 7 at the trailer, if my memory is still okay, but you started Emelia earlier, too cute to see her sitting on your lap just banging away and then you holding up the key board for her….

    She is so beautiful
