Father’s Day Weekend

The past weekend was for the most part relaxing. It certainly had it’s difficult moments, but compared with the marathon of work around the house last week, two days away made for a nice rest. We really didn’t do much over the weekend except run some errands and exchange a couple small gifts.
Saturday night I watched the little girl for a bit while Sue went out shopping. Unfortunately, the little girl was not too keen on spending time with daddy. She really, really does not like the heat. That coupled with a very sweaty father that feels the same way it was uncomfortable for her to be in my arms. However, she was tired and would not sleep on her own. On top of that she really loves her mommy. Nothing beats having mommy hold her when she is ready to sleep. So, we had a good 1.5 hours of on and off screaming and whining. I didn’t lose my mind or my temper.
Sunday went a little easier. Emelia was still resenting her evening with me so she was a mommy’s girl again. About two minutes into holding her she was ready to leave my arms for mom. With Amy and James over at Mike’s parents house for dinner we decided to make our way home early. Meimei is much easier to deal with in the afternoon than night; nighttime driving can be difficult on all of us. It worked out well. She slept the whole way.
For dinner we decided to make some grilled vegetable wraps. Sue and I cut up and prepared red peppers, egg plant and zucchini. Some olive oil and fresh cracked pepper and a little (too much) seasoned salt and on the grill they went. Everything came out great. We wrapped them up in some warmed whole wheat tortillas and inhaled them. Two was enough to fill each of us. I can’t wait to have them again for lunch tomorrow. Very simple to make and very tasty. The three vegetables taste great together.
A quick shower to rinse off the sweat of the day, a short perusal of the blogs and I’m ready for bed. After being out for three days I’m sure I have plenty of email and work awaiting my arrival tomorrow. I hope to take it easy at work and try to get some stuff done around the house this week. If I can get the door done I’ll be happy. One last thing, the RoundUp seems to be doing the job. All of the damn vines are limp and look to be dying nicely. ![]()

One last thing, gifts. Emelia (with mom’s help) got me a Panera bread gift card and Sue got me a nice pair of New Balance sneakers. Very cool. Good eats and good sneaks. James gave me a nice set of chocolate tools (wrench, screwdriver, hammer, etc.) from a local candy maker. Amy got me something too, but it hasn’t come in yet. Mom and dad gave me a nice gift last week, I just have to find a way to use it. I’m still thinking what I’ll use it for. The first thing that comes to mind is software, but I may use it for something else. Thanks for all the gifts!

That sounds like a nice weekend. The veggie wraps sound awesome. I’ll have to try those soon. Congrats on the vines!

Okay, just to recap the veggie wraps were delicious, but we found out quickly that they have a laxative effect. I’m not sure why they affected us seeing as we are big veggie eaters. Maybe it was just the right combination. Don’t let that deter you though. They were well worth the minimal effort.
