怎么了

Sorry for the lack of posts, but I just haven’t had the time or desire to stay up late posting. Oh well. I have some good photos and video of Emelia and James to share. Coming soon.

So, I decided to take a few days off from work. Not that things are slow or out of hand at work, I simply need to get some stuff done around the house. Chores usually get taken care of before too late, but the honey-do list is not getting any smaller. My hope is that during the next three days I can get some of the nagging things done around here. I picked up a nice long (28′) ladder yesterday so that I can take care of some things on the roof and around the house. The 24′ one I borrowed from Amy is just a bit short; it doesn’t even reach the gutters.

The first big item on the list is replacing the exterior lights with new ones we picked up a couple weeks ago. The ugly globe lights are going and we’re putting in some nice antique brass lantern style lights. They should look a lot better. Painting the front door is a must. A blue door on an ivory color house with brown trim just looks odd to Sue and I. So, we’ll cover it all up with a nice maroon paint. Not to mention the door is looking a little beat up outside. Lastly, I hope to install some hardware into Sue’s closet. She’s been stuck stacking all her clothes in there on boxes for over a year. I think it’s time to put in some shelves and a closet rod. I’ll have more space myself too once her stuff is out of my closet.

Some other things I’d like to do, but may or may not get to are taking down the TV antennae off the roof. That damn thing does nothing but sit there an look ugly. We don’t plan to use it so it is going. We are taking down that ugly pool thingy on the side of the garage. That crappy looking thing makes the house look awful. We both can’t wait to get rid of it. Killing off the vines and digging up the massive stumps around the yard is also on the list. Doing something about the chipmunks that are digging holes in the yard and screwing up our plants is on the agenda. I’m sure there are other things, but the big ones must get done. The others are there in case I get time to work on them.

Enough house-talk. Emelia is doing well. She’s still amazing us with new things that she can do. Every time I go anywhere in the car with her she tries her best to sit up. Since she is strapped in the result is that she holds her head up most of the time. When in my truck she stares at the toys I have handing on the seat.

She’s really starting to interact with things around her now. It doesn’t surprise us that she looks at you when you call her name, she’s been doing that for weeks, but she likes to hold things now. I give her a rattle or a small toy and she can hold it herself. She usually tries pushing it into her mouth, but it is still amazing to watch.

Emelia’s 4 month doctor’s visit is coming up in a couple weeks so we’ll finally be able to see how big she really has grown. Last time we tried to weigh her using our scale she came in at about 16.5 pounds. I suspect she is at least that much. We’ve already outgrown the size 2 diapers. She’s in 2-3 size. Hopefully, she’ll stay in them for a little while.

James is doing well. He really enjoys being with Emelia. At day care he gives her a kiss whenever he sees her. If the daycare takes her outside into the 4-baby stroller they have James is either in the stroller with her or standing right beside her. He behaves well at daycare and really seems to like her. At home it is a different story. He still likes Emelia, but is concerned whenever Amy holds her instead of him. Not to mention he gets a little jealous when she plays with his old toys.

Speaking of old toys Amy broke out James old walker last night. We popped Emelia into and she was very happy. I’ll have to post the pictures of her. Her feet barely touch the ground. Most of the time she holds them up, but she is happy. She’ll play with the buttons a little bit, but is content just sitting in it. She stayed there for a while without fussing. I’ve seen her do the same thing at daycare when she’s in the exer-saucer they have. I think we’ll have to get her one of her own for the house soon. Anything to keep her occupied long enough for us to do something like eat or wash dishes is a blessing.

With mom and day on vacation we decided to have a small celebration for Father’s day a week early. So, last Saturday morning we went out for a nice breakfast at the diner. Emelia was excellent. She stayed in her carrier for a while and we took our time ordering, eating and got a chance to chit-chat. Once Emelia was bored of the seat Sue and I took turns holding her. Grandpa and grandma also got some time holding her. It was nice. Afterwards Sue and I had to make it back over the river so that she could get ready to work. I got to spend some one-on-one time with my little girl since Amy and Mike went to a relative’s graduation party.

It looks like the damn insurance company is finally doing something about Sue’s car. They kept giving her the runaround so I took over. I was able to get things straightened out and the car is being looked at as I write this. Hopefully, we’ll get word as to what they going to do by the end of the day or early tomorrow. We just need to know if it is going to get fixed or if they are giving us money. Either way we need a car. Mom was kind enough to lend us her car, but we’re getting antsy and want to have our own back.

If we do have to get a new car we are currently thinking about Honda CRV or Toyota RAV4. Something small enough so that we aren’t plunking down $50 each time we fill up, but big enough to grow with us. If we only have one kid a small car would be ideal, but we may have two. A small car with two adults and two kids is a tight fit. So, a small SUV is in order. We love Honda, but the RAV4 has the option of a small third row of seats. That comes in handy when taking care of two kids, which are always in the second row. Of course I’ve heard that RAV4 lacks legroom, which is a big deal for me. If we do need to get a car a quick test of each is in order.

That’s enough babbling for now. The dryer is done so I’m off to turn off the electric and start replacing lights.
