Extreme Makeover

The big news around here today is Extreme Makeover. I learned for the first (but not last) time this morning while listening to the radio on the way to work that Extreme Makeover was going to be in the area. The guy that called in to talk with the hosts (they know each other) happened to mention that his company would be providing the limousines, but he was forbidden from revealing the location.
Tonight the local newscasters revealed that the house to be renovated is on a small road in Colonie. That’s not too far from an our old apartment.
I got to be honest this is pretty cool. It’s interesting and nice to see something good come to somebody local that needs it. According to the newscast the house is owned by a single mother with four kids. One is hers biologically and the other three are adopted. Two or three of the kids have HIV.
The road that the house is on is currently closed off, but sometime next weekend the show is going to allow people to attend the revealing. Basically you get to park at a nearby furniture store that has an absolutely enormous parking lot (three times bigger than the store actually needs) and take a shuttle to/from the house. If you’ve ever seen the show you’ll know what it looks like. Lastly, the show is scheduled to air May 20 7-9pm EST. I may just have to watch it.
