One month and counting

Yesterday was the little girls’ one month birthday. A small milestone. 28 day living outside of the womb. Just as expected she’s changed quite a bit during the past 4 weeks. Everyday seems to bring something new and the loss of something easily forgotten.

  • So long are the is the sudden, all out screaming until she loses her breath for a simple wet diaper incidents. Screaming that bad usually means she’s really upset (and for good reason).
  • Adios to all the seemingly all day napping. She has pretty good periods of awake time now, but still sleeps plenty.
  • Smiles are only a silly face making session away (for mom, not dad. Dad can’t get her to break a smile for anything lately).
  • Staring contents are in vogue.

She’s also growing like crazy. Although, we haven’t had a chance to weigh her, it’s pretty clear that she has gotten more dense. You can tell just by holding her for a minute. Two weeks ago she was 9lb 6oz. She is definitely passed the 10lb mark.

Sunday Sue and I brought her out to get her one month pictures done. Like Amy with James, we plan to get her picture done every month until Emelia is one month old. Then, pictures will come a little less frequently. They aren’t cheap, but they are worth it. Much better quality that I can ever get using a point and shoot.

That doesn’t stop me from taking my own pictures and videos though. With Sue’s new camera we’ve been filling up my hard-drive with photos and video. 4GB so far this year. At least 2GB just for the baby (1 month = 2GB!). Yikes!

All dressed up and almost ready for pictures. Notice the little booties.

We found the problem; wet diaper. (Had to edit this one.).
