Problems Solved

I certainly wasn’t expecting so much work to upgrade WordPress to 2.1, but it ended up taking quite a while. First the upgrade failed. I tried to redo it, but found out that the upgrade already modified parts of the db so that didn’t work. I had to restore the backup, causing me to lose a few comments and posts.
Restore complete, upgrade complete, other things broke. Had to fix the theme, blogroll, etc. Tried to repost three old posts, but that failed for some reason. I ended up reposting them by hand. New posts seem to go okay though.
What a pain in the ass. It’s all better now though. With the imminent PHP upgrade I had no choice but to update WP since it would no longer work after PHP was upgraded. I was using Drupal for the MCM site, but seeing as I don’t have the time to work on such a big project anymore I decided to just get rid of it. No need to upgrade it now.
Cross your fingers and hope everything stays okay. You are welcome to comment again. Sorry to anybody that lost their comments. I know at least Jessie’s last comment is gone forever.

I haven’t upgraded to the latest wordpress yet. Hopefully, it won’t so bad.

It isn’t too bad, but I did have to make modifications to WP code to get some things to work the way I want. Also, the reason the first attempt to upgrade failed was because I restrict the mysql account that it uses to. The upgrade needs to create a table so full db access was required.
Something new in 2.1 is that you can put your blogroll links into multiple categories instead of just one.
