Visitors Aplenty

This past weekend brought us plenty of visitors. On Saturday, my side of the family came out to visit, hold Emelia and take many, many pictures of her. She’s the first of her generation, making grandma Rose a great-grandmother.
My cousins and their men came up too.

Don’t they both look like they’re ready for a baby?
Emelia is still a good sleeper; awake mostly for feeding, diaper changes and the occasional “stare at the face of whoever is holding her” game.
Curling up on my while sleeping is something she enjoys doing. Don’t worry though, she can still breath. She just likes to bury her face once in a while. Despite being only a week old she can support her head and moves it around often enough. So far we’ve only had one head-to-head collision.
Mom and dad were there too. Mom stayed up for a few days to visit. Dad had to work and take care of Missy so he was only visiting for the day.
Besides holding and photographing Emelia we got a chance to exchange gifts. My cousins hooked us up with lots of books, Carters clothing, a wall plaque and a silver set.
We all had a good time and we appreciate all the gifts. After everybody went home Sue and I settled down for a nice of rest and relaxation. Well, as much as we can get sitting on the couch entertaining and taking care of the baby.
On Sunday one of Sue’s coworkers stopped by for a visit. He brought his wife and son. I haven’t seen them all together in quite some time. The first time we met was at their baby shower, and their baby is now 4 years old.
I didn’t take any pictures, but we had a nice visit. Emelia was sleeping as usual and both Rami and Rani got a chance to hold her. We gave them a tour of the house. By noon it was lunch time so I fed her a bottle while Sue chatted with her friend.
Their son, Aneesh, was getting kind of restless so by the time I finished feeding the little girl they were ready to leave. It was a short, but nice visit. We’ll probably visit them sometime in the near future. They bought a new house very close to where we live.
They too brought gifts for the baby. A couple of two-piece outfits from Macy’s and a box full of clothes, bib, wash cloth, etc. The box is a photo box so we can use it to collect photographs and other memorabilia. It was nice of them.
After being cooped up in the hospital and the house for a week we were ready to get out and get some fresh air. Not long after Sue’s friend left we planned out a trip. Sam’s club to pick up a few things (which they ended up not having), Babies R Us to pick up some necessities like burp & wash clothes, and more bottles, then on the way home we hit Hannaford for a newspaper and some movie.
Emelia did well throughout the whole trip. After an initial fuss getting into the car seat she stayed asleep the entire time. I was surprised that she slept so well considering how bright it was outside and house noisy all of the stores were. She was quiet the entire time. By the end she was getting a little restless. It was close to feeding time so she was starting to wake up.
It was a pretty good weekend. Lots of visits, lots of gifts and a trip to the store.
