4 weeks and counting

We’re down to the last 27 days of pregnancy. Everything looks to be in order. The baby is positioned for launch and is now waiting on the countdown. Sue has to visit the doctor once a week now until the end.

We still have a few things to get into order. Getting a bag packed and ready for our stuff. Putting the car seat into our cars. My truck isn’t a big deal since I can install the base within seconds thanks to the LATCH system. Sue’s car on the other hand will take some effort. I have to make sure I can get it in.

Lastly we need to choose who we would like to deliver the baby. Plenty of choices there. Midwives (both female and male) or doctors (again, both female and male). In reality this is just a preference selection. We get who we get when the time comes.

Yesterday was pretty exciting for Sue. Her coworkers decided to throw her a surprise baby shower at work. A bunch of people from her current and old groups all chipped in. With the money they bought cake, some food and drink, decorations as well as gifts.

Somebody bought us a small diaper bag, a couple of baby outfits and baby body wash. The remaining money went into a gift card. One of Sue’s coworkers gave her a pair of hand knitted booties. They were supposed to go with the outfit that Sue opened at her other baby shower, but they weren’t ready.

What’s funny is that Sue didn’t even know about the party. They planned to do it at 1pm, but for some reason she decided to go out during lunch. She ran out to the store to get a pair of comfy, slip on shoes. When she got back she was greeted by a frantic coworker that was worried that Sue wasn’t going to come back in time for the “meeting”.  Everything worked out well though and Sue was completely surprised.

Tonight is our second Lamaze class. We’ll be massaging feet, learning a breathing exercise and maybe seeing a movie. Should be fun.

One more thing about babies. I already heard that my neighbor’s daughter is expecting a baby. Not sure how far along she is though. Today I heard that Brian’s girlfriend is now expecting. Both brother and sister have a baby on the way. “When it rains, it pours!”

take Sue’s car into a local police station and ask them to have one of their trained officers install it. I have a friend who’s a cop who does that & she very strongly recommends it!
