New Photo Gallery

I finally got my lazy butt into gear and setup new photo gallery software on this site. We’ve long out grown YaPig with over 150 galleries and to me it looks like YaPig is a dead project. No updates and no news in over a year and half. I’ve lost faith that it’s going to get fixed/updated. So, I’ve started using Gallery, which is by far a better piece of software and less complex (although no less powerful) than Coppermine. Not to mention there is a WordPress plugin for Gallery, which works pretty well.

Photo albums are now located at here and the old photo albums are located here. Over time I’ll migrate most of the albums from the old to the new software. Some of them won’t get moved over though. I’m still running low on space and some of the photos just don’t need to be on the site at all.

There are a couple cool things about Gallery other than being scalable to handle many photos. I added a Random Photo to the WordPress blog. It is also possible to view the Gallery within the blog, so it looks the same. Nice for the lazy folks like myself.

I mentioned before that I was moving videos to VideoEgg, but I’m finding that site a pain in the ass to work with. So, I found a way to convert videos to FLV and post them on my site. It makes it easy to post an 80MB video as a 2.5MB file. Not bad. I converted all of the videos already.
