Three more down

We’re losing three more stores within the next month. One is closing immediately. The other two are moving to new locations. They are doing what is best for them, but it is really starting to look sparse at the mall.

It’s a real shame too. Many people come in asking when are you closing or what’s going on around here. Then you get a few who come in and tell you how great the mall used to be. This was the place to be back in the 70’s and 80’s. It was even doing well in the 90’s. The place was full of stores and the place was packed with people. The Galleria just didn’t exist. This was the only mall in the area.

I’ve even heard stories about the food court. Instead of being in the middle of the mall it used to be situated like an anchor store. I’ve been told there used to be near 20 vendors (seems a bit high, but I get her point) and plenty of things for kids to do. Games and stuff. They moved the food court to the center of the mall when Service Merchandise moved in as an anchor.

Now we are left wondering what is the future of the place. I’d be happy if people just stopped asking what is going on or if they just stopped assuming that we are all going down in flames. It gets under your skin after a while, but people will be people. Some are curious, others are sympathetic, while others like to see misery.
