Christmas 2006

Merry Christmas!! Like just about everything going on right now this holiday seems to have flown by. We spent this Christmas like no other in the past, which isn’t bad, just different. With Sue as large as she is traveling is kept to a minimum. So, we stayed around home and our parent’s houses this year. I’ll be traveling to Mass. to see the rest of the family and celebrate grandma’s 75th birthday on Wednesday.

To keep things easier we decided to open our presents to each other at our own house this year. That way we didn’t have to drag all our presents to somebody else’s house, open in front of them while they wait and then lug it all back to our place. It also means opening presents days early, but that has an upside as well: Christmas literally lasts for days. Amy had the same idea and had Feifei open presents at home too.

On Christmas eve we had dinner and opened presents with my parents. Mom made veal parm with green beans (with Sue’s help), baked potatoes and garlic bread. Afterwards, we opened presents and sat around talking. After a long day of working and opening presents we hit the hay early. At the same time in another part of town Amy and Feifei were opening presents with her in-law’s family.

Christmas day morning we opened presents with Sue’s family at her parent’s house. The best part was watching Feifei. Last year wasn’t very exciting for him. He was less than one year old and Christmas didn’t mean much to him. This year he was pretty aware what presents are and why he was allowed to tear off colorful paper. He also appreciates toys and books now. The only bad thing is that we all spoil him (this time of the year at least) and he had more presents to open (toys, clothes and books) than he knew what to do with. Jason took pictures too.

I can barely remember what we got most people and what we both got as presents. Mom and dad got us a nice, new fire safe for all our important paperwork. Sue got a new camera to replace the outdated one we’ve been using lately from Jason. I got a nice, fleece bathrobe from LL Bean. It’s a large and tall which means the sleeves actually fit my long arms and legs. Sue got me a long coat for work and I got her a ring. That’s most of the big gifts. There were also lots of other and smaller, but not insignificant gifts. I won’t bother to list them all, but everybody enjoyed their gifts.

Next stop: Massachusetts. Grandma’s 75th birthday party and hopefully we’ll get a chance to exchange Christmas gifts with the rest of the family. Final stop: NYC for sightseeing.
