Is it Christmas yet?

BTW for anybody interested this is the first day I’ve felt close to normal. My voice still sounds like a chainsaw, but I’m feeling a bit better. I’m hoping that three days of sickness were enough to flush everything bad out of my system. It certainly feels that way to me.
It’s been on my mind lately that it just doesn’t seem like the Christmas season right now.
- The weather is just too warm. We’ve had a few cold days, but why is mostly in the 40-50′s during December?
- The closest thing we’ve gotten to snow is a dusting at 4am. It was blown away by a slight breeze by 7am.
- Everybody’s lawn looks lush and green. It makes we want to break out the mower and give it a fresh cut.
Trees are up and decorated, lights are on the houses and presents are wrapped, but the season still doesn’t feel right. I think it mostly has to do with the weather, but who knows. Without a good snow storm in the forecast it might be next year before it feels like winter.
Or maybe it’s just the winter blues. Go to work in the dark and shortly after coming home it’s dark again. Thankfully, in a few days we’ll be making the bend and the days will only get longer.

i agree. i think that it’s the weather. even if it doesn’t snow on christmas, we normally have some significant snow before christmas. it’s very wierd. the magnolia tree that we planted this summer is actually budding anew.

i’m so glad you’re finally starting to feel better!
and i feel the same way about this season so far. the weather is definitely the main cause, but i think there’s a mixture of other factors in there too, i just can’t quite put my finger on em.

@jessie: That isn’t good. Hopefully, that tree will be hardy enough to survive if/when it really does get cold and winter like outside.
@sarah: I had the same feeling. It’s the weather, but something else too. Something just out of reach or just out of eyesight. Oh well. Maybe it’s just that we are all getting older, etc.
Maybe things will be different next year. Our baby girl will be here and able to celebrate, if only a little. James is getting bigger and is figuring more things out. This will be a good year for him. Next year should only be better.
