The game is on!

The weekend just after Thanksgiving every other neighbor in the area seems to have put up their lights. I thought I was going to be the only one this year. Well, I’m not. I am only the first one to put up my lights this season. Well, it looks like there is some friendly competition in the neighborhood. Some people do very little, but some go crazy with lights and displays. All I got to say is, “It’s on!”

Sue gave the okay to pick up more lights/stuff after Christmas. Everything goes on sale and all the stuff I have right now was bought just after Christmas last year. Now that we have a house and I know what I can/want to do I know what to buy. I’m sticking with string, net and icicle lights for now. I’m not sure if I’m going to get into lawn ornaments and blow up things. For now I’ll stick to decorating things such as the house, trees and bushes.

I did learn one very sad thing this year though. The genius that wired up the outside electric socket some how used the same circuit that my tree inside the living room uses as well as the microwave in the kitchen!? It’s very odd. And we learned about this when trying to nuke some food with all the lights one. All of sudden everything went dark. 1100 watt microwave plus lights didn’t seem to work well.

So, this means a little rewiring. I need a dedicated circuit for outside. And it’s just plain weird that so much was on one line. I know there are others like it in the house, but they are tougher to fix. This one may be easily fixed. It’ll just take some work to locate the line.

Next year I will be better prepared. The game is on!

It’s in the blood. We’ve all got it. That makes me wonder which clown we inherited it from. :o)
