Reupholstered

We had our dining room chair reupholstered and they look great. It took us a while to choose a fabric. The woman kept showing us different books. I thought she was going to lose her patience with us, but she started to get a feel for what we liked and was showing us stuff that we liked.
We ended up taking two swatch books home to give us time to choose between two fabrics. We ended up getting an antique colored one that really fit the chairs well. It’s an Italian fabric. How exotic. The other was nice too, but it was a little too much gold and seemed a bit thin.
Here are the chairs before as they were two weeks ago. The gold color fabric is the original. The green is a fabric that the previous owner had put on the two arm chairs. They were using those two as accent chairs in their living room. Needless to say that the green ones held up worse than the original ones. The straps were loose on those too.
Here are the chairs now.
Not too shabby. Nice tight straps and new padding make for a comfortable seat. No sinking. And the best part is that they all match now. Well worth the money. The woman did a great job. She even gave us the remaining fabric. The fabric was wider than she expected and the company sent her more they she ordered. It was clearly the end of the roll. So, she had extra. This is good for us. We have some extra fabric in case we need to redo a chair in the future.
The only complaint I have, and its not much of a complaint, is that the job cost a bit more than I expected. It would have been cheaper if the seats came off the chairs, but the upholstery is attached directory to the chair. And the seats are straps, not wood. This is a sign of a well made chair, but they are more money to work on.

Thanks. It’s tough to get a feel for how they’ll look when all you get to see and touch is a 6″x12″ swatch, but I think we made a good choice. My concern was that the fabric was kinda dark and the red almost matched the wood. The other one we considered was more gold and had more flowers. I’m happy we chose this one.
We’re happy that it is a girl too. Sue was pretty sure seeing as she was suffering with bad pimples. It’s supposedly a sign that you’re having a girl. We’ll just have to seen how she turns out. We’re both pretty laid back, easy going people. I’ll be happy as long as she is pretty, smart, nice, honest, hard working and a little more social than her parents. Is that too much to ask?
