Casino Royale

Last night we got a chance to watch a sneak preview of Casino Royale. Excellent movie. Excellent. Amy’s coworker had a ticket that allowed two people in to watch the preview free. Amy wasn’t able to go, but we were. Thanks to both we went to see it.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from a Bond movie with a new actor. All I can say (Sue would agree) that he fits the part well. He did an excellent job playing the part.
I’ll try not to ruin the plot, but the movie is basically about Bond going after a guy that provides financial services to “freedom fighters”, aka bad guys. He takes their money, invests it and gives his customers access to the money anywhere in the world. Bond’s goal is to catch him so that they can learn what he knows and catch more bad guys. I can’t say much more without spoiling things.
Unlike other Bond films this one is not filled with neat gadgets and funky cars. I heard someplace that the movie was more “gritty” than others. I think that fits. The movie has a lot more action, more physical stunts and is light on the special effects. That might sound bad, but it was refreshing. The part of the movie that follows the opening credits is the best. All I can say is “wow”.
Okay, so I’m not a movie critic. If you get a chance to see this go for it. I don’t want to hype it up so much that you don’t like it, but Sue and I both felt is was well done and the actors did a great job. Forgo Borat and see Casino Royale.
