Suafe in the making

I’m inching ever closer to the first official release of Suafe. I posted a 1.0.0-RC version last week. Basically, it’s a stake in the ground saying I’m done adding new features and I’m only only bug finding mission. That’s partially true. I’m also on a code cleanup mission.
Once I have a chance to test it all and everything appears to be working as designed I’ll start advertising it. Freshmeat, Subversion homepage, FAQ’s, etc. It will be nice to see somebody other than myself using it. I know of two people that downloaded it. They each reported a bug.
It’ll also feel good to actually finish a project. I always seem to have a desire to design and write software, but I usually don’t finish anything I start. Mostly because I have more important things to do. With home improvements and a baby on the way I really wanted to finish this one. Get it off my plate and off my mind.
Just for laughs I added Suafe to ohloh. You can find it here. Ohloh is a site that tracks open-source projects. It gives you interesting statistical information about projects. Here are some interesting things about Suafe:
- 8,733 lines of code
- 127,191 lines of modified code
- 3.7% comment ratio
- 95% of files are Java, 5% are HTML
- 2 person years of coding (est.)
- Estimated worth: $106,091 (assuming $55k/year salary)
Two person years of coding? I must be superman since I did it in less than three months of sporadic coding. $106,091?? I could use the extra money. Too bad it’s not real.
