Training Day 2

Day 2 of training went okay. The actual training itself had better content, but I was not too interested by this point. I think the fault lies with the instructors. Very boring and mundane. “Beuller. Beuller. Beuller.” And of course reading through a book is always good. “On page 124 is this. That’s pretty important. On pages 125 an 126 there is an explanation of that.”
On a good note we had a good lunch. We had over an hour to kill and we filled up each moment. No long walks for us today. First we grabbed some food to eat. Plenty of choices with food vendors surrounding the park.
After eating we went to the observation deck (42nd floor?) in the Corning Tower. It’s the tallest building in New York outside of New York City. It gives a pretty good view of the area too. You can see New York, Massachusetts and Vermont. It’s the tall buidling in this picture:

They were closing very shortly after we arrived, but the guy was nice enough to let us up for a short bit. It’s quite a view from up there. I wish I knew more about the area. I like being able to identify landmarks from high up in the sky.
After the tower we made our way to the New York State Museum. If you are in the area its not a bad stop. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. We spent most of our time in the World Trade Center exhibit. There is plenty of displays of items found and destroyed in the WTC. It’s very surreal to look at everything. The creepiest part is seeing the destroyed and burnt fire engine:

There are also parts of the plane and personal items. Very creepy. The visit to this exhibit really put the brakes on my good mood. It took the rest of the walk back to class to cheer up again.
