What a week

This week is turning out to be crap and it’s only Tuesday. I’m in training this week, which I usually enjoy. Learning something new and maybe being able to apply it to work I do at home or for fun. I signed up for GJXDM, but ended up with two days of basic XML training plus three days of GJXDM. I’m feel like I’m up to speed on XML so the basic “this is a tag”, “this is an attribute” level training is a bit boring. I’m crossing my fingers that something new an exciting will come up, but I don’t have my hopes set too high.

The only cool thing about the training is that it’s in downtown Albany. I’ve never spent much time in that area so I’m enjoying that part of the training immensly. We spent 30 minutes of our lunch just walking around. We end up eating at a place called Bombers. It’s a very rustic/casual place. A quick eat and run kinda place, but definitely not like any franchise or corporate place you’ve ever been too. They serve vegetarian meals too, which is cool since I’ve been on a veggie kick lately.

The other thing that is kinda annoying this week is that we don’t have a phone line anymore. We have random wires showing up in our backyard and I’ve been taking care of them all with a set of wire cutters. I think most of the wires are a result of the original owner having a pool in the backyard.

Well, appparely, the black wire in the backyard that was only partially buried is actually our phone line! It looked like a random wire in the backyard. It really look like an old cable TV line, but no, it’s not. A precise cut later reveals it has four colorful (red, green, yellow and black) wires. Now…no phones. Damn. Now we have to get that fixed.

I’m crossing my fingers that today will be better. Our second day of XML training and maybe some good eats.

Must not have been installed right.
Besides, I think you’ll come up a way too spend the time you would be on the phone anyway :x.
    Mistake my eye:d.
    POP.

They fixed it!!! The guy called Sue home to help find the wire and neither could actually find where the wire went. I think that’s because the wire is where nobody would expect it to be. Anywho they installed a new, huge cable. They’ll come to bury it in a week or two.

    Ooh…. I don’t have anything to write about. That’s why I haven’t put up a blog yet.

Blogging is definitely not for everybody. I’m surprised that I’m still posting. I usually get bored with things pretty quickly.

[...] Next week looks to be a very light work week. I’m off Monday and Tuesday to do stuff around the house (like hang curtains) and Wednesday through Friday I get to go to NIEM training. NIEM is the new GJXDM, which I was already trained to use. During the training next week we get to do some actual hands-on work so it should be more fulfilling. This is stuff we are going to use at work and will have to know very well very soon. If all goes well the week should be relatively stress free leaving me full of energy to study hard. [...]
