Witnessing an Accident

I’m kinda creeped out and glad I’m at work. On the way in to work I witnessed an accident take place right before my eyes. It was about 1/8th of a mile ahead of me, but it was close enough. It’s surreal watching something like that happen.
I just started moving away from the light and there is only one person behind me. There are only a couple cars coming in the other direction. At the next intersection is a van travelling in the same direction as I am. He goes straight through the intersection and had good right to do so seeing as the light was green. At the same time a car was trying to turn left, across his path into the school campus. Neither made it to their destination.
They ended up hitting right there in the intersection. The van ended up veering off to the right and hitting a lamp post or something of the sort. The car trying to take the left got spun around and ended up facing almost completely around, but quite a bit farther away from where they hit.
By the time I reached the accident a bunch of the SP recruits were out trying to direct traffic. There was just too many of them and nobody wanted to be in charge. Finally somebody yelled out some directions and they all started working together.
I don’t think I saw who was driving the van. There was a guy standing near the door, but I don’t know where he came from. Out of the car came three students; one girl and two boys. They all looked okay, but one boy was limping.
It doesn’t look like they got hit too bad. The guy in the van could have taken a good shock since he hit head one. The car was hit in the front, which spun it around. From my point of view it was the fault of the car turning. There was nobody else around and definitely nobody behind the van. Why turn out in front of him? Idiots!
It creeped me out, but I made it to work just fine. I told the recruit where I was going and who I worked for and he let me pass around. I’m pretty sure others squeezed around, but at least I feel better saying why I was doing it.

Yes, what a way to start the day. It wouldn’t leave me for a while, I would keep thinking about it….But, it is odd that you saw this today because yesterday I saw one before work and was late for work because of it…right on Rt. 208 and Bracken Rd. a bad intersection which needs a light badly. I saw the lady off the road in a ditch still in her car and the other vehicle the people were okay. I never like seeing any kind of accident since it stays with me. It is soooooooooo dangerous to drive these days, everyone is in a big hurry, not sure why, but they are. They think the world is like a micro-wave - instant….everything……hurry everything…..

To busy chatting I bet. Some people with cars can only do one thing at a time and mostly paying attention isn’t it. I see on the average of one wreck every 2 weeks or so. Driving is very dangerous anymore.

I felt bad for the guy driving straight. He was probably on his way to work and was obeying the traffic laws. The person driving the other car was probably, like you said, not paying attention. I’ll have to check next time I’m through that intersection, but they might have had a red arrow as well. That would mean they ran a red light too.
