Clampetts

Whenever we move we inevitably get a 10% coupon for Lowes and another for Home Depot. Everybody in the family wants in on that deal. So, we make a trip to Lowes and make a huge purchase, buying everything we can think of. Last night was a good example.

We wanted to pick up a ladder, a fan for the bedroom, more primer and some stuff to remove wall paper. Amy wanted to pick up two doors and hardware. Her dad wanted a some insulation and a sliding door. Can you guess what we came home with? Remember we only had one vehicle, my truck.

Well, we didn’t get the slider. Despite my insistence on needing the actual size of the door being replaced we went to the store empty handed. We were quickly informed by the employee that you can’t buy a replacement door without measuring the old one. I figured that was coming. Sometimes it is just easier to do things the way a person asks, let it fail and then you can go back to them and explain how to do it the proper way.

We did come home with two steel doors, locksets for both, a ladder, a fan, a 2 gal. bucket of primer, a complete toilet, toilet seat, wall paper scorer and wall paper remover. Did you see that coming? I felt like the Clampetts coming home last night. I’m actually a little surprised I got everything to fit in the truck so well. Everything went into the back except for the toilet bowl (big piece) and the small stuff in bags. I think next time we get a 10% coupon that we’ll bring at least three cars.

Fortunately for me the toiliet is for Amy. I am not touching the bathrooms unless something has sprung a leak.
