Where are all the Americans?

I heard some guy on the radio this morning ranting and asking “Where are all the Americans?” He was complaining of the number of foreign born people in the United States. We watches a television show on last night where the characters had the same feelings. That leads me to ask why are there so many ignorant people? I know people are entitled to their own opinions and can freely express them, but this is just plain ignorance.
They’re ignorant to the fact that nobody in this country is native except for the Native Americans. The rest of us (I include myself here) are just imports. We or our ancestors came to this land from some place else. How can decendents of immigrants start complaining about new immigrants coming here? I’m pretty sure that’s how this country came into being.
After thinking about this during the rest of my drive to work I remember a movie that was completely based on this ignorance: Gangs of New York. It is a movie where the “natives” (decendents of previous immigrants) are actively fighting and just plain making life miserable for all the Irish immigrants.

i have no tolerance for people who say stuff like that. i hear it all the time & it makes me nutts. my favorite reply to those comments is “and where did your family originate?”
