Rumor Mill Update

I believe I’ve said it many times before; each weekend brings its own set of “new” rumors regarding the future of the mall. The latest we’ve heard is that Price Chopper is moving to northern Poughkeepsie and that the mall is to be replaced with a strip mall. That doesn’t bode well for small, privately owned stores.

It was also interesting to hear the rumor that Price Chopper employees were “notified that the store was closing”. We spoke with a manager and they did reveal that there are negotiations as to whether they will renovate the current store or move to a new location. They didn’t get Easter decorations since there was a plan to renovate the store. Nothing has been decided and employees haven’t been told anything yet. They’ll let everybody know when they have a decision.
