Knife of Dreams - Robert Jordan

I feel like I’m becoming a slow reader over time. It could also be caused by the books I’ve been reading lately. Jordan is not exactly light reading. I finally finished “Knife of Dreams” by Robert Jordan.
I didn’t buy and start reading this one right away. I had a couple books to finish before this one. So, I had plenty of time to talk with people that have read this and the common theme seemed to be that this book moved a lot faster than the others. Well, after reading it for myself I don’t fully agree.
Some stuff did happen. There was very little about Rand, which sucks, but Jordan did take the chance to move a couple plot lines along. Elayne becomes queen, Perrin rescues his wife and Mat gets married. Albeit exciting and significant events, they don’t really move the plot lines much farther along.
I think that Jodan has a lot of catching up to do. It really isn’t apparent with Taim is going to do. Or what Rand is going to do now that he has only one hand and can barely handle the source. Jordan says that he will finish up the store in the twelfth book even if it is 2000 pages long. I’m afraid that unless it is 2000 pages it is going to be a big letdown. He doesn’t seem to be very close to ending all the plot lines. He has setup for the ends, but hasn’t really made much progress.
I decided that I would read the last Jordan novel I haven’t read yet, “New Spring“. I haven’t heard much good about this one either. I’ve heard mostly it that it was short and didn’t give all that much to the story. I’ve finished about 15% of the book and nothing has happened yet. Lots of rehashing and revisiting of things anybody that has read any WOT books would know. The only interesting part so far is seeing Moraine and Siuan as Accepted. I’ll keep my hopes flexible just in case this gets better or worse.

[...] I should also mention that I thought I hadn’t read KoD, but it seems I have. Weird. I totally forgot I read it. Oh well. I guess memory goes away as we age. [...]
