James’ First Birthday

We celebrated James’ birthday early this year since it didn’t land on a weekend. It was a full house. Sue’s parents, her brother and Lily; Mike’s parents and his brother Joe; my parents; and of course Sue, me, Amy and Mike were all there. We ate some Pizza Town pizza and some of Sue’s dad’s chicken wings for dinner. Lily brought over some munchies as well.

I wasn’t sure how well James would take all the attention. He doesn’t always do well when it gets late and around people he doesn’t see often. But, last night he was nothing but smiles. He got used to having everybody over and watching him pretty quickly. Being the only baby there and the birthday boy to boot he was the center of attention the entire night. He showed off his new walking skills and played a bit with my mom and his uncle Joe. I annoyed everybody by taking pictures of them while they ate. :-D

It was getting late when we finished eating. Sue whipped up some coffee and we had James check out his cake. Amy jumped the gun by lighting and blowing out the candle without telling anybody or letting anybody sing to him. So, she had him try a taste (check out the pictures, he got it all over his face) and we all sat down to eat our cake. Pat mentioned that we didn’t sing so we sang Happy Birthday to him. He seemed okay with it. He just sat watching us all sing to him. At least he didn’t cry. We tried putting his hat on, but he didn’t like it. All in all it was a good night.
