The Lowes Experience

This past Sunday we had the “Lowes Experience”. With coupon in hand we went out to Lowes to pick up quite a few things like a door, windows, grills, etc. We thought this would be an easy in and easy out trip, but we were very wrong.

We picked up the grills and grabbed some insulation for the attic and then went to the millwork counter to place an order for some replacement windows and a new entry door. We got there before 9am and found out that the guy that works the counter gets in at 9am. So we waited. After patiently waiting until 9:15 nobody came. We talked with customer serice and found out the guy was sent out to do deliveries. So, we need to wait for the other guy that comes in at 9:30am.

Needless to say it took a long time even after that guy arrived. 15 minutes to get grills and walk to the counter. 2 hours 45 minutes to wait for somebody at the counter and to actualy place an order for 9 windows (most of which are the same size!). We still needed to come back to place the order for the door since the guy working didn’t have any idea how to order a door. The guy that knows how to order doors was out doing the deliveries.

We got out of the store by 11am and had to go back at 6pm to place the order for the door. The same guy ended up trying to place the order. It wook 1 hour and 30 minutes to place a simple order for a door. All we need to say is which one, what color and size. Plain and simple. After staying there 30 minutes past 7pm when the store closes we got harrassed by the cashier. They forced us to split up the order since they couldn’t order the door and the manager said he would honor our coupon on the second purchase. By 7:30 the manager was gone and the cashier would not accept the fact that the manger gave his okay.

I need to take time today to pay for the items over the phone. Overall, this experience tested all of our patience. I’m a very patient person and it takes a lot to get my feathers ruffled. By the time I left I was ready to strangle somebody. We are now crossing our fingers in hope that the guy placed the order correctly.
